Covid-19 Updates (as of 8 July 2020)

In response to the the recent announcement by the Victorian Government, Chika's Japanese Cooking is temporarily closed until further notice.

To make our class safe and enjoyable for everyone, we are going to introduce the following precaution measures and updated class practices which will be reflected to our T&C. Alongside of the following information, please refer to a message from Chika as well.

Cooking Class Structure

  • Class Size: maximum 4 participants per class with minimum 2 participants policy to run a class. 

  • Class Duration: Strictly keep under 2.5 hours to avoid people staying in one place for long period of time.

  • Class frequency: Limited with once a week on Saturday mornings from 10:30 am for now. More classes will be gradually introduced.

  • There is no sit-down meal session at the end of cooking until the social distancing restriction is eased. You will taste all food you prepared as a class proceeds.

Class Location

The new class location will at 52 Norwood Place, Flemington VIC 3031, upstairs of our local business friend, Wheel Women Cycling's office.

Precaution measures : what we do for you and the cooking class

  • The cooking class premises to be thoroughly sanitised each class session.

  • Cooking stations where participants cook to be allocated minimum 1.5 m apart.

  • Gloves, face masks and hand sanitiser to be provided to all participants.

  • Hygiene induction to be conducted at the start of each class.

Precaution measures : how you can help us

  • Wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, using soap and water at the start of class.

  • Wear provided gloves and face mask throughout the class.

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then discard the tissue, otherwise cough/sneeze into your elbow.

  • Wash your hands after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, or using the toilet during the class.

  • Stay at home if you are unwell even you have mild symptoms or feel a little unwell.

  • Arrive on time for your class to minimise contact and to maximise the 2.5 hours class time.

Collection of contact details 

To support Victorian Department of Health and Human Services' contact tracing procedure, we collect all participants' name and contact phone number. If you make a booking for more than 2 person or on behalf of an actual participant, you will be required to provide contact details of the participant(s) prior to the class. We'll get in touch with you by email to collect the details once your booking is confirmed.

Minimum number participant policy

We reserve the right to cancel any classes if the minimum number of participants were not fulfilled by 7 days prior to a class. 
In this instance the participant who booked the class will be offered options of rescheduling to other class or a full refund.

Gift vouchers

We haven't brought the gift vouchers back to our lineup just yet. We'll restart offering them once the restrictions allow us to run more classes.
